Bronx Pride 2009 - Rain or Shine!

For the fourth year in a row, the Bronx Community Pride Center (BCPC) and the Bronx Pride Committee (BPC) officially announces the Bronx LGBT Pride Festival, which will take place on June 20 2009 from 12pm-8pm, at Barretto Point Park in the Bronx. The theme for this year’s event is “We Matter” teaming up with this year’s festivities are several major companies and foundations along with a plethora of vendors and service organizations catering to the LGBT community of the Bronx.

“We are thrilled to bring Bronx Pride in its fourth year round to the Borough,” said Sage Rivera, chair of the BPC. “Thanks to their meticulous planning, and hard work the representatives of the committee proudly present an event that not only provides food, live musical entertainment and dancing, but is an ideal forum for community members to access information about businesses carrying products and services committed to strengthening the unity and support of the Bronx LGBTQ community.”

Last year, Bronx Pride, which was held at Barretto Point Park, attracted over 3,000 community supporters. “Freestyle Music Icon” Cynthia headlined our entertainment which showcased a fabulous array of performers the event took place on Saturday, June 21, 2008.

Company sponsors, such as WKTU-FM, ID Lube and HX Media, will be featured throughout the afternoon. Several elected officials will be attending the event. This is the second year that gay pride in the Bronx has had an array of supporters. “The Bronx LGBT community has found its voice,” said Lisa Winters, Executive Director of BCPC. “And because of this, New York City is taking notice.

On behalf of the Bronx Pride Committee we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your contribution to the festival’s entertainment. Your presence and talent will prove to be a valuable addition to making this day as fabulous as it can be. The Bronx pride 2009 Festival will take place at Barretto Point Park on Saturday August 22nd at one o’ clock. Last year, more than 3000 individuals attended Bronx pride, and this year we are expecting even more.

We are asking that all entertainers arrive on the scheduled times. Your act is scheduled in the ____Half and you curtain call is _______pm. Barretto Point Park does have bathrooms for changing but they are not near the stage and unfortunately the parks department is not allowing us to have tents. However there will be back stage canopies for minor wardrobe adjustments and touch-ups.

The Bronx Community Pride Center is the driving force behind this event that will not only celebrate LGBT community with spectacular entertainment performers, but also serve as a rare forum for community leaders and organizations to reach out to our community and be heard.
